Lane Burley Light Without a Bite

Tobacco: burley Style: Aromatic Room Note: 2 - Mellow Cut: Loose Cut Top Flavor: Misc Flavor Intensity: 2 - Mellow Review 3/5 stars The mellow nature of this really saved the review here. The cut is what tanked it. Thoughts I want to start off with, I purchased 16 oz of what was supposed to be loose cut, but it seemed a lot closer to shag cut. I am not thrilled with the smoking experience of this type of cut. Regarding the smoke of the rest of the stats. Well they fit pretty well. I can’t complain too much there. The nicotine in this one seems to be on the lower side as I need more of it. However, with how easy of a smoke (beyond the shag cut) it is I am happy to go back to it often. This one will eat through your filter supply though. The gunk builds up quick on the filter and makes for very tight draws; this caused me to end up just smoking it without the filters.

Life Update 2021

Well… so much for plans The best laid plans always seem to fail. Especially when you life is pivoting against the norm. Recently I made the decision that I needed to pursue some new pursits. This was helped by a friend of mine sharing a job posting sure, but it felt right. Usually I am scared to make decisions like this, or to even contemplate them. However, as I said, this just felt right. I applied, and sure enough they got me into an interview QUICK. I think it took less than a week. Within two weeks I had received an offer, and I quickly accepted it. I now have the job title of Senior Development/Operations Systems Engineer. Big long fancy title for, I the DevOps guy. YAY! My job will be to solely focus on how to optimize flows and manage the infrastructure for our developers.

No Code

Down the rabbit hole I kept hearing the term no-code thrown around recently, and I had the general idea of what it might be based on some research I had done to see how I could get my kids into programming. I just had not heard it called no code before. Then I saw a repo called nocode and had a good laugh about it. The description of this repo is, “The best way to write secure and reliable applications. Write nothing; deploy nowhere.”

Maintenance Mode

Backstory What do you do when you are a small company and don’t want to have a multi regional roll out, but need to upgrade a core feature? I throw out a maintenance mode message. I would love to find a better way, but I have yet to find it. It would be wonderful if someone could point me in that direction, but for now, I will stick with this methodology.

Change Jenkins URL from CLI

Where did I go wrong?! Well, as I stated in Disabling Jenkins Security I am not experienced in managing Jenkins servers to the degree that I would like. And so when I perform updates I like to create an AMI backup and spin that one up to be able to test upgrades of packages and Jenkins itself. Once I started up the AMI I tried to access it with it’s public dns record. The only issue was it kept redirecting me over to the production version’s domain name.

Disabling Jenkins Security

The start to my troubles So I started my day off the other day making an AMI of a Jenkins server, because we needed to update the server and wanted to make sure that the updates didn’t break anything. I ran into two issues when I started; the first was I couldn’t access the GUI and the Second was once I could access the GUI I couldn’t login due to the domain not matching for Google. Given I have very little experience with managing Jenkins (AWS Codebuild for the win), I had to hunt down how I could disable the security settings from the command line and files without breaking anything.

Why I blog

Who am I? Sometimes I don’t know who I am to an extent that I would be happy with the answer. At this time I am a father, a husband, a programmer, and an automation lover. I hate to see inefficient things in code when I know that there are so many better options out there. So why do I blog? Because I can. No seriously. I’m bored, and I need something better to do with my time then playing games that cause too much frustration, browsing social media until I feel like a zombie, or watch shows that just drag and can’t keep my attention. I figured this was a good way to get my thoughts out of my head and into a more active way of spending my time.
